Expert meeting: MODERN APPLIED INSTRUMENTS FOR CONDUCTING RESEARCH

On February 8 and 9, 2018, in the American Space was held an expert meeting "Modern Applied Research Tools"
for research companies in Central Asia.
Spearkers were American experts:
Matthew Warshaw is a Chief Operating Officer at D3 Systems, Inc. He has been working for more than 20 years in
the field of sociological research, public opinion polls, media assessment, performance evaluation and research,

Jacob Poushter is a Senior Fellow at the Pew. He is an expert in international studies on various topics, including the
international image of the United States, the use of world technology, as well as public opinion on international

How to analyze, write and visualize survey data for public consumption?
The importance of communication work in connection with research
Training field teams and staffing difficulties for interviewing

Problems in the field (access to homes, number of refusals from respondents, etc.)
What are some of the innovations these days in methodology and data analysis in research on quantitative and
qualitative opinion?

How to use social networks as a data source for researching the opinion of the target audience more widely?
How to use Big Data in opinion research of the target audience?
The role of technology, in particular, computer-based interviews (CAPI) and paper interviews
The meeting was held as part of the speaker program to study the views of the target audience. The event was
organized by the International Center of Journalism MediaNet with the support of the US Consulate General in
Almaty.
