On November 1, 2023 in Almaty the U.S. Mission to Kazakhstan, the Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs (ECA) at the U.S. Department of State, and local partner MediaNet International Center for Journalism hosted TechCamp Kazakhstan Wrap-up Event to summarize the work of the network of representatives of the private sector, civil society, media, and influencers to counter the spread of disinformation in the region.

The participants of the TechCamp Kazakhstan, including representatives of media, educational institutions and civil society from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan who have been trained in fact-checking tools, AI services, mobilography, media literacy, cybersecurity, SMM and crowdfunding, presented the results of their projects aimed at countering the spread of fake and manipulative information, propaganda and hate speech in Central Asia.

In addition to the presentation of projects, the participants of the meeting learned about the opportunities for American Programs alumni and fundraising to continue their media and fact-checking projects.

TechCamp Kazakhstan is organized by U.S. Department of State, U.S. Embassy Astana, and MediaNet International Center for Journalism / Factcheck.kz.
