Media Literacy in Kazakhstan: Mapping, Analysis, and Recommendations

MediaNet International Center for Journalism, in cooperation with the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty, conducted a comprehensive study of the state of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) in Kazakhstan between March and May 2025.

The report includes:

  • Mapping of key stakeholders in the field of MIL;
  • Analysis of official responses from government bodies reflecting current initiatives and measures to promote media literacy;
  • Assessment of problematic issues and major challenges;
  • Recommendations for further development of media literacy for various target groups.
